Elora Danan

Around 5 weeks, those kittens in the basement started getting wild. I wasn't spending as much time down there and they just weren't getting people-time. So I brought them up for visits. By this time, I had decided which one I'd be keeping. She was TabbyGirl at first.

Once I'd decided, she needed a permanent name. I was going to the Renaissance Festival with a friend, so while I got dressed, I asked him to go down and see if he can figure out here name. He came back up saying, "She told me her name was Elora Danan." I said, "Oh, from Willow. Cool." And she has been Elora Danan ever since. (That's her on the right. Her "twin" Hermes is on the left.)

I knew she was fuzzy at 5 weeks and had the potential to go long-haired. She did. And then she didn't. The long-haired cats I have to seem to have a blooming schedule. Here, it's between the first pre-bloom and the 2nd full bloom.

I also didn't know she'd get so big! Her mom was a callico with the build of a Siamese. She has kind of a pointy face and dainty toes from her. But everything had to come from her daddy, and her daddy had to be Maine Coon.

Update: Elora Danan passed away in March 2017. She would have been 13 in August of that year. She had a stroke and was in pain, so we had to let her go. It was hard.
